Cosmetic-grade atelocollagen

Technically validated

Full-length, single-origin marine atelocollagen made from culled crown-of-thorns starfish, for premium cosmetic and skincare formulations.

Atelocollagen is a highly purified form of collagen that has undergone a specialised process to remove its terminal regions, known as telopeptides. These regions are associated with some of collagen's immune-reactive properties. Their removal produces a refined collagen material with reduced immunogenic potential while preserving much of collagen's natural triple-helical structure.

Unlike hydrolysed collagen, which is broken down into smaller peptides, atelocollagen retains its larger, structurally intact collagen molecules.

With its excellent biocompatibility, moisture-binding properties and structural integrity, atelocollagen offers exciting possibilities for the next generation of high-performance skincare products.

Animation: native collagen is a triple helix with telopeptides at each end. When the telopeptides are removed, the triple helix is preserved. This is atelocollagen. Benefits: reduced immunogenicity, as removing telopeptides helps lower immune recognition; biocompatible, preserving the natural collagen framework; and high purity, processed to provide a refined collagen biomaterial. Cosmetic applications: skin-focused formulations, aesthetic biomaterials and beauty delivery systems, for skin-focused gels, masks and beauty formulations.

Who it is for

  • Skincare and cosmetic brands looking for a premium, traceable collagen ingredient
  • Cosmetic formulators and contract manufacturers
  • Ingredient distributors

Why it is different

  • Single origin. Every batch comes from one species, which supports consistent quality and defined geography.
  • Not from the meat industry. The raw material is a reef pest already being removed. Unlike the highly unsustainable and greenhouse gas emitting meat industry, the product improves the environmental balance.
  • A conservation story that is true. Each batch is linked to crown-of-thorns starfish controlled and coral reefs protected.

Status

The product is technically validated. We are optimising the process and preparing for scale-up and commercial supply. Brands and formulators interested in samples can contact us.
